A hand printed linocut print inspired by and created on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
This print is presented either as stand alone on A5 paper (printed area 150x100) or in an ivory/white mount measuring 10x8 inches. Please note the oak frame is not included.
Marsh Cinquefoil (Comarum palustre)
A deep maroon star shaped flower, Marsh Cinquefoil is a relative of the strawberry. Here on The Oa, Islay we find it in the wettest and boggiest areas often close to rivers and lochs.
This Marsh Cinquefoil was sketched on the Oa in June, 2020 near the banks of Abhainn na Fainge Duibhe. After sketching we then transfer the design to Lino before carving with a fine tool. Every picture is hand printed and therefore unique. We use vegetable oil-based inks and 300gsm Snowden Paper.
