A hand printed linocut print inspired by and created on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
This print is presented either as stand alone on A5 paper (printed area 150x100) or in an ivory/white mount measuring 10x8 inches. Please note the oak frame is not included.
Grass of Parnassus
Unusually named, as it isn’t a grass at all. Grass of Parnassus is a beautiful white and green veined flower that grows in the wet pastures and moorlands near our home on The Oa, Islay. Also known as Bog Star, it is said to smell of honey.
This plant was sketched from a close-up picture we took on one of our daily walks in July 2020. After sketching we then transfer the design to Lino before carving with a fine tool. Every picture is hand printed and therefore unique. We use vegetable oil-based inks and 300gsm Snowden Paper.
