Bog Asphodel Original Linoprint - Isle of Islay
A hand printed linocut print inspired by and created on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
Bog Asphodel (Narthecium ossifragum)
A bright spiky yellow plant that turns to orange after flowering. It lives up to its name, inhabiting the moorland bogs of the Oa here on Islay and can cause photosensitivity if grazed by sheep.
This Bog Asphodel was sketched on a quiet Oa roadside near our home. After sketching we then transfer the design onto lino and carve it with a fine tool. Every picture is hand printed and therefore unique. We use vegetable oil-based inks and 300gsm Snowden Paper.
This print is presented either as stand alone on A5 paper (printed area 150x100) or in an ivory/white mount measuring 10x8 inches. Please note the oak frame is not included.
